Some the options are in this menu while other similar settings are inside the main settings menu. Another one called "Band Settings" with things like Display items, Shortcuts, Time format, etc. The "device specific settings" could use the same idea used in the general settings menus and have categories/sections.įor example, a category called "Auth/Connection" at the top with the Auth Key, New Auth Protocol, and Allow High MTU options. It's always a good idea to keep menus organised, even if some users don't read. Users running old firmware that decide to re-add their band to Gadget Bridge would have to disable this option, which is not ideal, but I guess that's an acceptable tradeoff for those who choose to use an old firmware. ![]() Not only new bands come with the new firmware, but the current official app forces a firmware update when pairing the band for the first time (and everyone needs to do it as we need to get the auth key). Why enable it by default? New users are likely running a newer firmware. It would be better to handle this automatically, but if it's not possible/no one is free to implement it, I assume enabling it by default would be easier? I'm not a codder, so I can't help here. I was thinking about having it enabled by default for new pairings, not for currently paired devices. You can be very specific, simply please provide a PR for the `Gadgetbridge` If it's not possible to automatically switch between the old and new Auth protocol, maybe this setting should be enabled by default for new devices? > (Unrelated, but the list of supported devices on the Gadget Bridge website is outdated.) > There's nothing about this on the Huami pairing wiki page, btw. > It might also be useful to have both the 'new auth' and 'api key' options one after the other (maybe at the top as nothing works without these two options?). > New Mi Bands come with newer firmware or are updated to it when users use the official app for the first time. > If it's not possible to automatically switch between the old and new Auth protocol, maybe this setting should be enabled by default for new devices? You can be very specific, simply please provide a PR for the Gadgetbridge project. (Unrelated, but the list of supported devices on the Gadget Bridge website is outdated.) This just makes me sad, because i personally added it there: There's nothing about this on the Huami pairing wiki page, btw. If people do not read, they will not read it even if it is close to each other. It might also be useful to have both the 'new auth' and 'api key' options one after the other (maybe at the top as nothing works without these two options?). I have been thinking about the same, but there might be users of MB6 who never updated to this latest software and we would break this for them. New Mi Bands come with newer firmware or are updated to it when users use the official app for the first time. ![]() If it's not possible to automatically switch between the old and new Auth protocol, maybe this setting should be enabled by default for new devices?
